The moment the crypto timeline has been waiting for finally dropped yesterday: Irys mainnet is officially live.
Over two years of building, tens of thousands of hours, multiple rebrands, and one of the cleanest aesthetic packages in the entire space – all led to this post and its absolutely fire cinematic trailer.
If you somehow missed it, the video is pure dopamine: Irys’ big-eyed anime mascot wakes up, blasts across iconic cities (Statue of Liberty, Burj Khalifa, Tokyo Tower, London Bridge), gathers energy, and literally explodes into the “MAINNET IS LIVE NOW” reveal in glorious teal and cyan. It’s giving Pixar meets cyberpunk meets Arweave maximalism – and the timeline ate it up.

What actually launched?
Irys is no longer just the fastest way to bundle and push data to Arweave. It’s now the first programmable datachain – a Layer 1 that combines permanent storage with native execution. Think of it as Arweave’s hyper-optimized little sister that can actually run code on the data it stores.
Key upgrades now live on mainnet:
- Sub-second data retrieval
- Embedded executable instructions on data (huge for AI agents, onchain games, autonomous worlds)
- Composable utilities across ecosystems
- Predictable, sub-cent pricing (cheaper than most Web2 clouds for permanent storage)
Basically, the missing data + execution layer that Solana, Ethereum L2s, and every AI chain have been screaming for.
And yes – the IRYS token launched with it.
The airdrop claim went live November 25 and runs until December 25, 2025.
Eligibility is mainly:
- Top 10,000 on the Galxe leaderboard
- Genesis NFT holders
- Some allocation via Binance Alpha Points (241+ points got 1200 IRYS FCFS)
Predictably, rank 700+ people are malding over “$8 minus gas” allocations while the top ranks made bank. Classic crypto launch scenes. The token took a quick -22% dip from airdrop selling but has been stabilizing as people realize the tech is legitimately next-level and the mascot is unreasonably cute.
Speaking of the mascot – that little white creature with the glowing teal eyes is single-handedly carrying the meme potential of this entire project. The timeline is already flooding with “stay Hirys joor”, edits, and people adopting it as their pfp. If this thing doesn’t spawn a top-20 meme coin by 2026 I’ll be shocked.
Bottom line: Irys just went from “useful infrastructure” to “useful infrastructure with S-tier branding and a token that actually has utility in one of the hottest narratives (AI + data)”.
The job’s never done, as they say.
But damn, they just cooked one of the cleanest launches of 2025.
